FACULTY OF ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING AND COMPUTING, UNIVERSITY OF ZAGREB BECAME A MEMBER OF THE CROATIAN-KOREAN BUSINESS CLUB

Zagreb, September 27, 2014 – The Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing in Zagreb staged the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing (FER) University of Zagreb, and the Croatian-Korean Business Club that made FER an official member of the Croatian-Korean Business Club. The Memorandum was signed by Professor Nedjeljko Perić, Ph.D., Dean of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing and Zoran Horvat, President of the Croatian-Korean Business Club as well as a longtime director of Samsung Corporation, headquartered in Zagreb (1991-2005). The signing ceremony was attended by the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea in Croatia H.E. Suh Hyung-Won and his associates, Professor Krešimir Ćosić Ph.D., Special Advisor to the Dean, Igor Zgrabljić, Secretary General of the Korean-Croatian Business Club and Luka Novosel, Deputy Secretary General of the Croatian-Korean Business Club. During the signing of the Memorandum, Professor Nedjeljko Perić Ph.D. said that the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing, University of Zagreb wants to develop joint scientific research projects with partner institutions in Korea which is a highly developed and technologically advanced country. We see the membership in the Croatian-Korean Business Club as an opportunity to deepen our relationship with the academic community in Korea with the aim of increasing the application of applied science in the real sector, said Perić. President of the Croatian-Korean Business Club Zoran Horvat pointed out the long-standing friendly relations between Croatia and Korea, which was among the first Asian countries to recognize Croatia’s independence in 1992 and which has even then recognized Croatia as a country with high research and academic potential in the field of electronics and computing, as evidenced by the projects that have been successfully implemented in the field of shipbuilding, medicine, electronics and others. On this occasion, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea H.E. Suh Hyung-Won expressed his pleasure with the joining of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing in Zagreb in the Croatian-Korean Business Club and with his visit to such a prestigious institution whose work and achievements have impressed him. Croatian-Korean Business Club was established with the aim of promoting and enhancing the economic cooperation between Republic of Croatia and the Republic of Korea with an emphasis on entrepreneurship development and business initiatives, as well as trade between the two countries.
