CROATIA IS BECOMING ONE OF THE MOST ATTRACTIVE DESTINATION FOR KOREAN EQUITY

After the visit of 270,000 Korean tourists in 2014, Croatia is becoming an interesting destination for Korean investors

Zagreb, 15 June 2015 – At the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Zagreb today was held the first Anniversary Celebaration of the Korean-Croatian Business Club. Along with the hosts Korean Ambassador to Croatia H.E. Suh Hyung-won, President and Secretary General of the Croatian-Korean Business Club, Mr. Zoran Horvat and Mr. Igor Zgrabljić ceremony was attended by more than 100 dignitaries and representatives from Croatian and Korean companies and institutions including; Vice President of the Croatian Parliament Academician Željko Reiner, Governor of the Croatian National Bank, Mr. Boris Vujčić, Secretary General of the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts Academician Pavao Rudan, Secretary of the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts Ms. Marina Štancl, President of the Croatian Academy of Engineering Professor Vladimir Andročec, Vice President of the Zagreb City Assembly Mr. Davor Bernardić, the United States Ambassador to Croatia H.E. Kenneth Merten, Counsellor and Deputy Head of Mission Embassy of the United States of America to the Republic of Croatia Ms. Margaret H. Nardi, Ambassador of Azerbaijan in the Republic of Croatia H.E. Kamil Khasiyev, Assistant Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Ms. Dubravka Plejić Marković, then Mr. Pumjoo Lee, President of the Adria region, Samsung Electronics GmbH, Croatian athletes Dario Šimić, Zoran Primorac, President of the Croatian Olympians Club, Veljko Mršić, Acting the Head coach BC Cedevita, representatives of the Croatian Chamber of Economy, Croatian Tourist Board, the diplomatic representatives of Slovenia, Belgium, Russia, Israel and others.

 

In his opening speech, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea H.E. Suh Hyung-Won thanked the founders of the Croatian-Korean Business Club for founding the Club at the best possible time; when a large number of Korean investors are showing interest in investing in Croatia, when Croatia is the most attractive tourist destination for Korean tourists at the moment when, as a member of the EU, Croatia can take advantage of the privileges of a Free Trade Agreement between the Republic of Korea and the European Union. President of the Croatian-Korean Business Club Mr. Zoran Horvat pointed out the long-standing friendly relations between Croatia and Korea who are this year further strengthened with the work of the Club, the entry of Croatian companies on the Korean market and recently the signing of Air Transport Agreement the governments of Croatia and Korea, as well as the fact that the Korean giant Samsung is returining its business back to Croatia.

 

On this occasion, Vice President of the Croatian Parliament, Academician Željko Reiner commended the founders of the Croatian-Korean Business Club for the excellent and successful year, and mentioned that the club is a great potential for cooperation in the fields of education, research and development.

 

In just one year from founding the Croatian-Korean Business Club, the Club has has attracted some of the most prominent Croatian companies and institutions such as; Agrokor concern, Atlantic Group, Vindija, Kraš, Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, RIZ-Transmitters, Jadranka, Triglav insurance etc., and has organized a number of projects of which the most important was the premiere performance of Croatian companies at the largest food and beverage market in Korea and Japan “Seoul Food 2015″, which was held in May 2015 in Seoul. With the extremely high quality and prestigious members, the Club joined to its Advisory Board some of the most prominent names of Korean economy and public life, Mr. Yang In-mo, Honorary Croatian Consul in the Republic of Korea, Doc. Cheong-Ho Chang, CEO, Sewon Cellontech, Mr. Chung Chong Cheon, Chairman of the Board, Borim Group, Mr. Jin-Seong Hyun, Director of International Relations, Sewon Cellontech, Ph.D. Dong-Sup Shim, longtime Director in the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy of the Republic of Korea, Mr. Yong-Jin (Andreas) Jeong, longtime Director of Samsung Educational and Development Center and Adviser for Communications at the Institute for Research of Comparative History and Culture, Hanyang University, Seoul and Mr. Hai-Geun Hwang, Director of medical equipment, Samsung Corporation.
