Together with the main host Hon. Kim Dong-chan, Korean ambassador to Croatia, all of the speakers have reflected on the activities of the Club in the past five years which have significantly improved the bilateral relations between Croatia and Korea on all levels.

An additional confirmation of the Club’s impactful work was the recent appointment of its president Zoran Horvat, as the director of the office of the Croatian Tourist Board in Seoul.

Since its founding, the Croatian-Korean business club has been working intensively on improvement of relations between the two countries and has set up as one of the goals of its funding, a direct airline connection to improve economic relations. We are pleased to be able to contribute to this process and we are particularly proud of the fact that along with this flight, on October 24, 2018, the Embassy of the Republic of Croatia in the Republic of Korea will be opened, which will also contribute significantly to the economic relation between the two countries. An additional direct airline between Seoul and Zagreb contributes to a much better relation between Croatia and Asia.

Ambassador Park Won-sup also highlighted the emotional moment of the KoreanAir landing in Zagreb as well as the desire for the success of this line in building stronger ties between Croatia and the Republic of Korea. Ambassador Damir Kušen thanked everyone involved in the realization of this flight and expressed the pleasure that he will be able to go to his new job by direct flight from Zagreb. Byung-Ryool Park, the Korean Aira leader for Europe, said he is pleased to introduce the first regular line to Croatia, the Southeast European country with extremely fast tourist growth and also said that is will be the bridge between Croatia and Korea which will contribute to the additional growth of economic and tourist cooperation.

With this partnership CKBC and Salve Regina are working on development of tourist and business ties between Republic of Korea and Republic of Croatia.

In addition to the theme of reflection of the club’s work in the last four years and all the achievements, two important events have been announced. First one, the direct flight between Zagreb and Seoul which will start in September and the opening of the Croatian embassy in Korea by the end od 2018.

On the same occasion the Embassy and the Club organised the Farewell for Mr. Igor Zgrabljic, Secretary-General of the Club who is leaving Croatia to attend the MPA program at Harvard Kennedy School in fall 2018.

On December 1, 2017 the Korea-Croatia Business Forum was successfully organized in Zagreb by the by the Croatian-Korean Business Club, the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Croatia, KOTRA and the Korean Tourism Organization. This years forum was organized under the high auspices of the Ministry of Tourism of the Republic of Croatia together with the partners Lošinj Hotels & Villas, Qatar Airways, DMC Adriatic and Travel Lounge.

Together with the hosts, the ambassador of the Republic of Korea to the Republic of Croatia H.E. Park Won-Sup and the president of the Croatian-Korean Business Club Mr. Zoran Horvat the ceremony was also attented by the Deputy Speaker of the Croatian Parliament academician Željko Reiner, Adviser to the President of the Republic of Croatia Mr. Luka Đurić, Assistant Minister of Tourism Mr. Robert Pende, director of the Zagreb Tourist Board Ms. Martina Bienenfeld, rector of the University of Zagreb professor Damir Boras, Mr. Mladen Vedriš,  Mr. Stjepan Roglić, and 150 representatives of Croatian and Korean companies and institutions.

After the introductory speech Mr. Zoran Horvat president of the Croatian-Korean Business Club and the ambassador of the Republic of Korea H.E. Park Won-Sup welcomed all the guests and expressed his satisfaction with the Forum which aims to improve the economic cooperation between Korea and Croatia, which is one of the most important bilateral relations between these two countries. Assistant Minister of Tourism Robert Pende confirmed the importance of Forum organization which has caused great interest of the Croatian business community. Cooperation between Croatia and Korea has great potential and we believe that in the following years our economy will be even more connected, Pende said.  The Deputy speaker of the Croatian Parliament academician Željko Reiner, pointed out the long standing friendship between Croatia and Korea which is growing every year. He emphasized the importance of developing relations between these two countries in all aspects of human activity, especially in the fields of science, culture and economy.

Key indicators in trade relations between Croatia and Korea were presented by the Secretary General of the Croatian-Korean Business Club Mr. Igor Zgrabljić. He presented the opportunities for Croatian exporting companies considering  the structure of Korean imports which include most of the goods and services from the sectors in which Croatia is most competitive. He also presented the figures related to Korean investments in the EU and emphasized that the current situation is a great opportunity for Croatia in the upcoming period.

The Forum continued with the presentation of the representatives of the Agency for Investments and Competitiveness, the Croatian National Tourist Board, the Zagreb Tourist Board and representatives of the Korean Tourism Organization who presented the XXIII. Winter Olympics which will be held in 2018 in Pyeongchang, Korea. In the second part of the Forum more than 50 business meetings were organized between Croatian and Korean tourism companies.

The Signing Ceremony was witnessed by H.E.Ambassador Park and Mr.Zoran Gregurović, Mayor of the City of Krapina, who was present during the whole programme of the visit of Korean Embassy and CKBC delegation to Krapina.

The Mayor invited Korean companies to take part in the infrastructure and industrial projects and to use the incentives for their possible investments in the sectors of industry and tourism in the City of Krapina and Krapina-Zagorje County, which are rich in thermal water springs and spas, cultural heritage and attractive location. The programme also included a visit to Kotka d.d., one of the leading textile industries in Croatia specialized for production men’s fashion suits with over 500 employes ( more than 90% women ) and 95% of the production exported to EU countries.

The possibilities for a business collaboration between Presečki Grupa and Hyundai Motors Co. as well as Presečki Travel Agency with the leading Korean travel agencies were discussed.
Prof.Dr.Antun Presečki expressed the interest for a visit to Korea during early 2018 for the meetings with potential Korean partners.
In continuation the delegation visited a recently opened Oldtimer Museum Presečki, which has a most representative collection of the oldtimer models of cars and motorcycles in Croatia.
Mr.Zoran Gregurević, Mayor, held a reception for H.E.Ambassdaor Park and the members of delegation in the City Hall of Krapina, where the development projects of the City of Krapina were presented.

The official part of the programme was concluded with a visit to Krapina Neanderthal Museum, which represents one of the biggest tourist attractions not only in Croatia but also in the whole CEE region, followed by a lunch served to the members of delegation in the private residence of Prof.Dr.Antun Presečki in a pictoresque area in the outskirts of Krapina.
